Description

The US Army, Joint Munitions & Lethality LCMC Acquisition Center on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS) is seeking sources to manufacture and ship tracer pellets for mechanical properties evaluation of various tracer compositions for the 120mm, M1002 cartridge, load tracers into M1002 cartridges for engineering tests and provide technical support in the area of pyrotechnics. The objective is to try to determine a composition that would provide the best mechanical properties for reliable tracer visibility to the 3000 meter target at cold temperatures. The M1002 Tank cartridge continues to have tracer burn time issues at cold temperature. Various tracer mixes have been evaluated with some success and a new mix has been implemented which provides some improvement but cold performance is still not meeting User desired level of performance.
