Description

Provide all drilling and barge services to accomplish the exploration in the area identified for construction of the breakwater. The breakwater will be located in the area between the mouth of the existing harbor and the Bristol Fuel Dock in the area known locally as Scandinavian Beach. The purpose of this exploration is to sample and log the soils from mudline to a depth of 50 feet for two of the borings and to a depth of 30 feet for the other two borings and to obtain samples for laboratory testing. A total of four borings will be drilled and sampled. According to existing information, we currently believe that the soils will consist of soft silt or clay and that sampling with Shelby tubes will be possible. The water depth in the drill area ranges fr om about zero to about 100 feet at low tide and the tide fluctuates about 15 to 20 feet. It may be necessary to let the barge go dry during the drilling operation.
