Amendment 0002 A ? UNIVERSITY AND NON-PROFIT SCIENTIFIC AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH AMENDMENT TO ANNOUNCEMENT N00178-08-Q-3004 - Open through 9/30/08 The purpose of this amendment is to add a topic: 1. The following topics are hereby added to the announcement: Topic (n) - A portion of the NSWCDD workload involves applied engineering, analysis, and/or design of weapons, weapons systems, weapons platforms and targets. This requires the use of advance analysis tools, especially hydrocodes. To accurately predict material response under extreme loadings, state-of-the-art material strength models are needed for hydrocodes. Of particular concern is the behavior of metals, concrete, composites and ceramic materials. For brittle materials, statistical fracture is an important consideration. For ductile materials, shear banding, anisotropic yield surfaces and material stability/bifurcation are key concerns that need to be adequately accounted for. These capabilities are needed in DOE hydrocodes used by DoD that include Presto, CTH and ALE3D. 2. This announcement will remain open and white papers will be accepted through 30 September 2008.?
