Description

•1. What kind of insurance do you need and what are the limits you need for it. Answer 1 The American Merchant Marine Museum requires insurance sufficient to reproduce the Tusitala ship model by a ship model maker of the museums choosing in the event of damage, theft or otherwise being destroyed. The reproduced Tusitala would be finished to museum quality. •2. May I arrange a site visit to see the model in person to get a more focused estimate. Answer 2 A site visit will not be available. Please see photos. •3. What is the period of performance? When is finished restoration due? Answer 3 January 2, 2017 through, June 1, 2018. Completed by June 1, 2018. There will not be extensions granted. •4. You mention option in addition to the base price. Is this additional work that is is not listed in the scope of work (which I"m presuming is whats listed on the cover sheet?) For example, a new vitrine? Answer 4 This procurement is for the restoration of the entire ship model. A vitrine is not required. There is not a separate cover sheet for this procurement. In the conservation report recommendations for a case is required. Case price may be included in the conservation report. However, any firm s quote should not include the case cost. If a case for the Tusitala is purchased it will be on an entirely separate procurement. •5. Are there historic photos of model or the ship itself that this model is based on which can be used to repair it? Answer 5 The American Merchant Marine Museum does not have photographs or drawings of the Tusitala. Question 6 How should the model maker display the sails. Answer 6 The Tusitala is to be restored without sails.
