Description

Future X-Band Radar (FXR) Industry Day The FXR effort is entering a Technology Advancement and Risk Reduction phase that will mature technologies that the Surface Navy could leverage for its next generation, X-band multi-function radar. FXR will assume the functional capabilities of AN/SPQ-9B including surface search, horizon search, and periscope detection and discrimination. FXR will provide additional capability including dedicated tracking, missile communication, and advanced electronic protection. The new radar system will be back-fit on existing ships and forward fit for new ship construction. Although a functional replacement for AN/SPQ-9B, the threats and combat operational environment for this radar are new conditions dictating performance.
